Queer Tourism Study
I am currently collecting data through surveys and interviews for a research study entitled, “Creeping Utopia: Queer Women and the Political Itineraries of Tourism in Mexico.” The project explores L(G)BTQ women’s tourist practices and experiences in Mexico. Compared to gay men or cis heterosexual people, not much is known about how and why queer women engage in tourism. This study aims to counter-map L(G)BTQ women’s tourist movements to gain insight into the ways spatial engagements with globalization are structured by gender in domains of sexuality, race, and political economy.
